Opening Reception: Sat. Oct. 15, 6 – 9 p.m
Light sculptor Dorothy Tanner is one of 21 Colorado-based artists participating in MOA’s new exhibition, Reinventing The Image. She has created a self-contained light and sound installation in the Black Box Gallery featuring many of her new works entitled, Reinventing the Image With Light.
Dorothy Tanner was born in New York which is where she began her art career. Her main project for the past several decades has been Lumonics, a light and sound multi-sensory expression involving light sculptures, projection, electronics, and music. Lumonics has been presented in California, Maine, Florida, and Denver. She has most recently created the Lumonics Mind Spa downstairs at the newly opened The Scarlet, a former casino at 131 Main Street in Central City. The Scarlet combines the fine arts, healing arts, and live music. A work in progress, Ms. Tanner will be installing her art and that of her late husband, Mel Tanner (1925-1993) on all four stories of the building.
